Plant and Light experiment

Room 5 have been investigating the effects of a "Fair test" and how when we design fair tests we just change one element. We have grown the same beans in the light and the dark, using the same containers, watering them the same amount and only restricting light to some. Today we observed the differences between our plants that were grown in the dark and in the light.

We noticed - the plants grown in the dark had smaller or no leaves. They were very light green and they had less roots.
The plants grown in the light had dark green large leaves and had huge amounts of roots.

We learnt about the need for roots, the need for leaves and the need for green! We felt very sorry for the plants growing in the dark!!

We have now decided to move the plants grown in the dark, to the window sill. We have predicted what we think they will look like in a week. Some students think they will turn dark green and grow large leaves. Some students think they will get a shock with the light and not survive. Ask your child what their prediction was.  What do you adults think will happen? Comment with your ideas below we would LOVE to hear!!

These pictures are our beans today.
